A Musical Map of Columbia (Mind=Blown)

Every black dot is a record they uploaded to Soundcloud. You can listen your way around the map - the music is embedded right into the image. I won't take the time to summarize all of the info from the Soundway page, but you can check all that, and a lot of other really incredible stuff right here.

Lil B - BasedGod Velli

Although I just don't have the patience to wade through all of his catalog, I'm a huge fan of Lil B's best mixtapes. This is one of those. Good vibes to spare, and a lovely collection of beats to boot. Check it.

The A$AP crew freestyle over "You Look in Twice" by Nurses

A$AP Rocky and Co. were guests recently on Pitchfork's Selector series. After dropping what might be the year's best mixtape, LiveLoveA$AP (check it out), they deliver what might be the year's hottest freestyle here.

Also, if you dig the format, you can check out a couple of my other favorite entries in the series here and here, In the first, Curen$y raps over a beat by Gold Panda. The second is a blistering freestyle by DJ Quik.

[Seems just like yesterday that they were up and coming.
They're still so young I bet they haven't had enough of nothing.]

Video: The Weeknd - The Knowing [official]

The Weeknd is one of the most surprisingly successful musical acts to come up in the last couple of years. That's not to say that Abel Tesfaye is anything less than brilliant. I just would not have predicted that his woozy, drug saturated tunes would connect with such a huge audience. Of course, he was already rising before Drake became his biggest fan. Now, it's just a question of how huge The Weeknd will get. Anyway, enough talk. Here is the new video for The Knowing. It's a wonderful science fiction short film of sorts that fits perfectly with The Weeknd's blissed out melancholy.
