James Drake, fo real.

This is the last you will be hearing about Drake from me for a while, I promise. I've just been saying to my friends, "The beat on 'Look What You've Done' sounds just like a James Blake beat!" Turns out, he had a vinyl of James Blake's first LP ON DISPLAY IN THE FUCKING STUDIO. So, yeah, here's an excerpt from the Rolling Stone piece that totally proves me right.


"Drake is home in Toronto, recording at his longtime producer Noah "40" Shebib's studio. The vibe is industrial yet cozy: exposed brick, low lighting, plenty of high-grade weed and virtually no decoration aside from a vinyl copy of U.K. dubstep crooner James Blake's debut on a windowsill. "This is home," says Drake, wearing a T-shirt, black jeans and work boots. "If I'm in a big expensive studio, it starts messing with my head about what kind of music I should be making."

With an album cover that flatters the Flaming Lips in the highest fashion...

...and a sound that won't disappoint those hoping to hear equal doses of hip hop and psychedelic pop. This really is a wonderful album. It's a rap album for fans of trippy, psychedelic rock, but it doesn't make any sacrifices to build that bridge.
